The guide

How it works

How to bid, what happens when you win, and the rules everyone plays by.

Getting started

  1. Apply. This site is for businesses only. Apply with your company, trade licence and VAT details.
  2. Get approved. We check your details, usually within one business day, and email you.
  3. See the lots. Once signed in you can see prices and manifests, then bid or buy.

Ways to buy

Each lot shows which of these it uses.

TypeHow it works
AuctionSet your maximum and we bid for you until the lot closes.
Buy It NowBuy straight away at the price shown. Some open auctions offer this too.
Make OfferName your price. We can accept it, decline it or send you a counter-offer.

How bidding works

You enter the most you are willing to pay. We bid for you, only as much as it takes to stay ahead. Nobody else sees your maximum.

Here is a lot that starts at €1,000:

What happensCurrent priceWho leads
Trader A sets a maximum of €1,500€1,000A, at the start price
Trader B sets a maximum of €1,200€1,225A: B's €1,200 plus one €25 step
Trader B raises to €1,600€1,525B: A's €1,500 plus one €25 step
Trader A raises to €1,600€1,600B: same maximum, and B got there first

Bid steps

The step grows with the price. On lots sold in boxes, the step is per unit. The bid window always shows the lowest bid you can make.

Current priceStep
Under €1,000€10
€1,000 to €4,999€25
€5,000 to €19,999€50
€20,000 to €49,999€100
€50,000 to €99,999€500
€100,000 and above€1,000

Reserve prices

A lot may have a hidden reserve, the lowest price it can sell for. The lot page says whether there is one and whether it has been met. If it isn't met, the lot doesn't sell.

The closing minutes

Auctions use a 5-minute soft close, so nobody can win by bidding in the last second. Any bid in the final 5 minutes sets the clock back to 5 minutes from that bid. This repeats until nobody bids for 5 minutes.

Sealed rounds are different: they end exactly on time.

Lots sold in boxes

A large lot can be split so you buy only part of it. For example, 500 phones in boxes of 50 makes 10 boxes. You choose how many boxes you want and your maximum per unit.

Here is that lot, starting at €300 per unit with a €5 step:

TraderWantsMaximum per unitWins
D3 boxes€3503 boxes (150 units): €47,250
B3 boxes€3403 boxes (150 units): €47,250
A4 boxes€3204 boxes (200 units): €63,000
C5 boxes€310Nothing: all 10 boxes have gone

All three winners pay €315 per unit: C's €310 plus one €5 step.

Sealed bids

In a sealed round, price and bids are hidden. You see only your own bid, so enter your best price. You can raise it until the close.

Alerts

We tell you when you are outbid, when a lot you bid on is closing, when you win and when your invoice is issued.

To follow a lot without bidding, press Alert me on it. We alert you 24 hours and 1 hour before it closes.

Alerts come by email. You can also turn on WhatsApp in your alert settings.
